Promoe International Mobility Programme

You will receive 600 EUR per month to undertake a study period at a partner university outside Europe, for example in the USA, Canada, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia or Latin America. The funding is available for up to 5 months for a single semester or up to 9 months for a full year. You will also receive a one-off travel allowance, the amount of which increases with distance – from 150 EUR for a nearby destination up to 1,500 EUR for journeys of 8,000 km or more. There are no tuition fees at the host university. If you can demonstrate financial need through a government grant, refugee status or a recognised disability of at least 33%, you will receive an additional 150 EUR per month. The programme is run and funded by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in Spain.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at the UPV in Valencia.
• Credits done: By the deadline, you will have earned at least 50 ECTS credits (Bachelor’s) or 24 ECTS credits (Master’s) and will still need to earn at least 24 credits.
• Grades: Your grade point average is within 0.7 points of the annual average for your degree programme (for Master’s applicants, within 1 points).
• Field of study: Open to all degree programmes at the UPV.
• Nationality: You are from an EU or Erasmus+ country, or you hold a valid residence permit for Spain. You cannot enrol at a higher education institution in your home country unless you have completed 5 school years in Spain.
• Language: You hold the language certificate required by the host country, for example an official English language test certificate for the USA, Australia or the English-speaking part of Canada, or B2 in the local language for destinations in Asia.
• First time: You have not yet received any funding under the Promoe or Erasmus+ KA 131 International schemes.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the UPV’s AIRE platform between 10 and 28 November 2025, with applicants able to specify up to 10 potential destinations. A selection panel assesses applicants primarily on the basis of their grades (75%), as well as their language skills and their commitment to mentoring (supporting other students). The provisional list will be published before 30 January 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This programme is open exclusively to students at the UPV, so you’ll be competing against your fellow students at your own university rather than against the whole world. Places are allocated on a merit basis until the budget is exhausted, and your marks account for three-quarters of the total score – so a good grade point average is the decisive factor. If your marks are close to or above the average for your degree programme and you meet the requirements regarding credit points and language proficiency, your prospects are good.
