What you get

You get back up to 300 EUR per language certificate. This covers what you spent on a language course and/or the exam. You can claim a maximum of 2 grants in total, including any from earlier rounds. The money comes from the University of Malaga (UMA), funded by the regional government of Andalusia, with a total pot of 61,150 EUR for the 2025/2026 cycle. It reimburses one of three things: reaching the language level your degree requires (B1 or higher in a first foreign language), a higher level (B2 or above) once you already meet that requirement, or a second foreign language (B1 or higher). The higher-level and second-language options are only paid if money is left after the required-level claims are covered.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in an official Bachelor's degree (Grado) at the University of Malaga in 2025/2026.
• Financial need: You hold a general state study grant (beca general) from the Spanish ministry, or from the Basque or Navarre education authorities, for 2024/2025 or 2025/2026.
• Real costs: You paid for a language course and/or an exam during your Bachelor's studies and can show the invoices and receipts.
• Certificate: You obtained the language level you are claiming, from UMA's list of recognised certificates, and it is recorded before 30 September 2026.
• Language: Any foreign language counts, at level B1 or higher.

How to apply

You apply online through the student portal (portalestudiante.uma.es). The window runs from 9:00 on 10 July until 14:00 on 30 September 2026. Students at UMA's affiliated centres apply through the university's electronic office or in person at the general registry instead. Grants are awarded by competition. Required-level claims come first. If the money runs short, priority goes to students closest to finishing their degree (fewest ECTS credits left), and grade average breaks any ties.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly. You must study at UMA, already hold a state need-based grant, and have paid documented costs, so the eligible group is small. Because payment follows a strict priority order and the higher-level and second-language options only get what is left, students near graduation with a clear required-level claim have the best prospects. If you fit those conditions and apply with complete receipts, your chances are solid.
