Traineeship grant in the Navarra wine industry

You will receive 900 EUR per month for a paid placement in the Wine Development Department of the Regional Government of Navarre in Spain. You will also receive 34.72 EUR per month as a contribution towards social security. The scholarship runs for a period of up to 12 months and can be extended in equal increments to a total of 3 years. You will work in the department’s laboratory as well as on viticultural trials and research projects, gaining practical experience alongside the technical team. This funding is a public grant, not a salary. Three scholarships will be awarded.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a university degree or a vocational qualification (FP) in a field related to agronomy or wine science, at bachelor, technical or higher-technician level.
• Recent graduate: You completed this qualification within the last 3 years prior to the publication of the call for tenders.
• Residence: You have lived in Navarre for at least 1 years prior to the publication of the call for applications.
• Age: You are over 18.
• Nationality: You are a Spanish national, or you come from another EU country or a country covered by a free movement agreement. If you are not a Spanish national, you must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the Spanish language (Castilian).
• Driving licence: At the time of your application, you must hold a Category B driving licence.
• Health and standing: You do not suffer from any illness or disability that would prevent you from carrying out the work, and there are no grounds for excluding you from receiving public funding in Navarre.

How to apply

You should submit your application to the Ministry of Rural Development, the Environment and Local Government in Pamplona. You can submit your application in person, by post or online via the Government of Navarre’s portal using a digital certificate. The deadline is 15 April. A selection panel will then assess you on the basis of your academic achievements, your training and professional experience in the wine sector, as well as your language and IT skills.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must have been resident in Navarre for at least one year and hold a current degree in oenology or agricultural science, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. With only 3 places available, selection ultimately depends on your grades as well as any practical experience at a winery or training in oenology. If you clearly meet the criteria and can provide evidence of this, your chances are good.
