About this scholarship
What you get
You’ll receive around 423 euros per month, as well as practical support for your studies at the University of Brescia. The exact amount depends on your family’s income and whether you live at home, commute or move away to study. You’ll also pay no tuition fees, or only a reduced rate, and receive discounted rates for student accommodation and meals in the canteen. The grant is awarded by the University’s ‘Right to University Education’ (Diritto allo Studio Universitario, DSU) service in accordance with national Italian regulations and the regional regulations of Lombardy. It is aimed at students who achieve good academic results but cannot afford their studies.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or single-cycle degree programme at the University of Brescia.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Nationality: Both Italian and international students are eligible to apply.
- Financial need: Your family’s income is below the official threshold. This is calculated using the ISEE, the Italian standard index for the financial situation of households. International students should use the corresponding ISEE Parificato, which you can obtain from participating CAF offices.
- Grades: You must earn a minimum number of credits (CFU) by the specified deadlines. The number depends on your year of study. First-year students must sit an additional interim examination.
How to apply
Applications are made online via the university’s ‘Right to Study’ portal. To log in, you will need two-factor authentication for your university account. The application deadline for the main round is in early autumn. If you are an international student, please apply for the ISEE Parificato certificate well in advance, as processing can take several weeks. The ranking lists are published and updated throughout the academic year.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a means-tested grant, subject to clear income and credit-point thresholds, rather than a competition for a small number of prizes. If your household income is below the ISEE threshold and you have earned the required number of credit points, you meet the criteria. The funding is restricted to enrolled students at Brescia University who can demonstrate financial need; the pool of applicants is therefore clearly defined and not open to all. Make sure you have your ISEE certificate ready in good time and submit your application by the deadline – applicants who meet the requirements well have good prospects.
