King's College, University of London - STEM Enterprise Scholarship

Benefit

You will receive approximately 11,500 EUR per year (£10,000) for up to three years, making a total of around 34,500 euros (£30,000). Each year, your tuition fees will be waived (a waiver worth £9,000), and you will receive £1,000 in cash as a contribution towards your living costs. King’s College London awarded 30 of these scholarships to students who commenced a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) between 2013 and 14.

Eligibility

• University: You have received a firm offer of a place at King’s College London on a STEM degree programme (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences or Engineering).
• Study phase: This is your first bachelor’s degree.
• Nationality: You are a student from the UK or the EU.
• Financial need: Your assessed household income is £25,000 per year or less, and you are receiving the maximum maintenance allowance of £3,354.
• Other funding: You have already stated that you receive full support from the UK Government towards tuition fees and living costs. Between 1 and 3, you will not receive any further tuition fee support or NHS funding. You cannot combine this support with other tuition fee exemption schemes.
• Priority: Preference is given to students from schools and universities that have a partnership with King’s, although this is not a requirement.

How to apply

You submitted your application via King’s University’s Student Finance Portal or by posting a paper form together with your supporting documents. The deadline was 31 July 2013, and the decisions were sent out by the end of August 2013.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding was linked to the intake date 2013-14 and has not been available since then, so you can no longer apply. During its running period, it was aimed at low-income students from the UK and the EU who were studying STEM subjects at King’s University, and comprised just 30 places. A well-suited applicant who clearly met the income thresholds had a fair chance. Current STEM scholarships at King’s College, such as the ‘Women in STEM’ scholarship, are separate programmes.
