Printing cost subsidy for your doctoral dissertation

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) will cover the printing costs for your doctoral thesis up to a total of 400 EUR (including VAT) for up to 20 printed copies. Every doctoral student who defends their thesis at the Faculty receives this support automatically; it is therefore not a grant that you need to apply for. The Faculty pays the printers directly, so you will not receive any money. If you have more than 20 copies printed or your invoice exceeds 400 EUR, you will have to cover the additional costs yourself.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are a PhD student and are currently writing your thesis at the Faculty of Health Sciences at UEF.
• Field of study: A health sciences discipline within the faculty, such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, biomedicine, nursing, public health or clinical nutrition.
• Where you study: You are studying at the University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu or Kuopio).
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Publication: Your dissertation appears in the series "Publications of the University of Eastern Finland. Dissertations in Health Sciences".
• Timing: Your dissertation must be available at the University Library (in printed form or online) at least 7 days before your public defence.

How to apply

There is no application form. When you place a print order with the university’s designated print shop, please ask for the invoice (up to 20 copies or up to 400 EUR) to be sent directly to the faculty. Please state your name, the date of your thesis defence and the faculty’s cost centre. If you use a different printing company, you will be responsible for the full cost yourself.
