Laura Kolbe and Thomas Forss travel grant

You will receive a one-time payment of up to 1,000 EUR to cover travel and conference expenses relating to your studies or research. The grant is paid once per funding cycle. It comes from the Laura Kolbe and Thomas Forss Fund, which is one of the University of Helsinki’s funds. The fund supports early-career researchers who are at the start of their careers and require financial support to attend conferences or study abroad.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying or conducting research at the University of Helsinki.
• Field of study: Your work is in cross-border private law, city research or European research.
• Level: You are a student or researcher. There is a particular focus on PhD students who are still at the start of their careers.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Selection: You will be assessed on the basis of your academic performance.

How to apply

You apply online through the University of Helsinki Funds' Grant Portal, under the Fund for Law. Register first. Use your @helsinki.fi email address if you have one. The application window runs from 14 January to 6 February 2026, 23:59.
