About this award / prize

Benefit

A one-off prize of 1,500 EUR is awarded for research in the field of medical biology. It is awarded to a researcher or research team whose work has improved patient care in the diagnosis, monitoring or prognosis of a disease. The Académie nationale de Pharmacie in Paris awards the prize once a year during its ceremonial meeting in December.

Eligibility

  • Who: You are a researcher or a member of a research team in the field of medical biology. Doctors, pharmacists and other scientists are also eligible.
  • Your work: Your research has helped to improve the diagnosis, aftercare and prognosis of a disease for patients.
  • Recent PhD: If your project is linked to your doctoral thesis, you must have defended that thesis within the last 12 months prior to your application.
  • Language: You should submit your work in French or English.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. You do not need to be a French national.
  • One exclusion: Members of the Académie nationale de Pharmacie are ineligible to apply.

How to apply

Please email your application to the Academy’s secretariat by midnight on 4 September 2026. You may only apply for one of the Academy’s prizes per year. A jury will review the entries and announce the winner at the Academy’s ceremonial meeting, which usually takes place in December.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize has a narrow scope: it recognises a very specific field, namely medical biology with direct benefits for the diagnosis or prognosis of patients, meaning that only a few researchers meet the criteria. If your published work clearly corresponds to this focus and is recent, your chances are good. The jury assesses the quality of the research itself, so a well-documented, significant contribution counts for more than a polished application.
