About this scholarship

Tarrazi Funds grant (Fonds de Tarrazi)

You will receive a financial grant designed to help you study at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), the National Conservatoire of Music and Dance. The amount of the grant is determined on an individual basis for each student and is not announced in advance. It depends on your financial circumstances, the type of grant and the amount of funding available this year. The grant is awarded in various forms:

  • Support with living costs such as rent, food and medical bills.
  • Support with the purchase of learning materials, such as accessories or digital resources.
  • Project grants for the purchase or repair of an instrument, as well as for creative projects, artist residencies, masterclasses, competitions or travel.
  • Emergency grants for unexpected hardship.

You can combine this scholarship with other private scholarships as well as with state grants such as Crous or housing benefit. The fund has been run by private donors since 1994 and has already awarded more than 549 scholarships to students from 40 countries.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You have passed the entrance examination and are now enrolled as a student at the Conservatoire de Paris.
  • Field: Open to all musicians and dancers, regardless of their course of study at the conservatoire.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • Financial need: The fund assesses your income and family circumstances. It is aimed at students who need financial support.
  • Study record: Your grades, your attendance and your commitment are what count. For some scholarships, you’ll also need to demonstrate outstanding ability, sometimes through an audition.
  • Exchange students: You cannot apply if you are only attending the conservatoire as part of an exchange or mobility programme such as Erasmus+.

How to apply

Applications are made via the student portal (ENT/Oasis) in the ‘Private Funding’ section, where you can select the funding you require during an open application period. Calls for applications for study grants begin at the start of the autumn semester. Project grants are usually advertised after the Christmas holidays. You can apply for emergency grants at any time. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is open exclusively to students who have already been admitted to the Conservatoire de Paris; the pool of applicants is therefore limited to a single institution, and competition is manageable. If you are enrolled there, can demonstrate a genuine financial need and have a strong academic record, your chances are good. As the fund relies on donations, the amount and number of scholarships vary from year to year. Apply within the application periods and make sure you do not miss the deadlines.
