What you get

You receive a needs-based grant of 1,454 EUR to 6,335 EUR per year, paid in up to 10 monthly instalments (nothing in July or August). The exact amount depends on your income and personal situation, worked out on an 8-step scale (from step 0 bis at 1,454 EUR up to step 7 at 6,335 EUR). The grant comes from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region for students training in social work, paramedical and health professions. You can combine it with a paid mandatory internship, RSA or the Prime d'activite (French income top-up benefits), but not with unemployment benefits.

Who can apply

• Your training: You are in a state-approved social, paramedical or health training programme funded by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, for example ambulance worker, nursing assistant, nurse, midwife, physiotherapist, social worker or specialised educator.
• First training: You are enrolled in initial training, not a retraining course paid by an employer.
• Age and residence: No age limit and no residence requirement.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Financial need: Your income is below the annual thresholds. If you are under 26 or financially dependent, your parents' income counts instead. As a guide, with no charge points there is no entitlement above a gross income of 35,086 EUR per year.
• Not eligible: You cannot apply if you are a civil servant in active service, an employee funded through your employer (OPCO or CPF), on a work-study contract, receiving unemployment benefits, drawing a pension, or already holding a CROUS scholarship.

How to apply

You apply online at boursesanitairesociale.fr. Create an account and submit your file. For training starting in the second half of 2026, the window runs from 4 June to 26 November 2026. For training starting in early 2027, applications open from the start of December 2026. You must reapply every year, as the grant is not renewed automatically.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is not a competition for a fixed number of places. If you are enrolled in a qualifying regional training programme and your income falls under the thresholds, you meet the criteria. The main factor is financial need, so the closer your household income is to the limits, the more likely you receive support. Apply within the window and reapply each year.
