Grants for childcare nurse students

You will receive a monthly net grant of up to 1,510 EUR, paid for 12 months, as well as up to 6,000 euros to cover your tuition fees. The standard grant is 1,360 euros per month. If you already have 3 years’ professional experience as a nurse (infirmière), the amount increases to the full 1,510 EUR per month. The funding comes from the Seine-Saint-Denis department in France. The department trains paediatric nurses (puericultrices) to staff its nurseries (crèches) and mother-and-child health centres (PMI). In return, you undertake to work for the department for at least 3 years after completing your qualification, for example as a deputy nursery manager, head of a PMI centre or as a district paediatric nurse.

Who can apply

• Training: You are enrolled on the course leading to the state diploma in paediatric nursing (Diplôme d’État de puéricultrice).
• Where you live: Your family home is in the Seine-Saint-Denis department.
• Commitment: You undertake to work for the department for at least 3 years after obtaining the qualification.
• For the higher grant: You have 3 years’ professional experience as a nurse, as confirmed by your employer.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

Please send your application by post to the Human Resources department of the authority in Bobigny. You will need to include a covering letter setting out your career plans, a CV, the application form and proof that you have started the training programme.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small target group. You must be undertaking training as a paediatric nurse and live in Seine-Saint-Denis, meaning that there are only a few applicants competing for this place. In return, you must commit to working for the department for 3 years afterwards. If you meet these requirements and are prepared to make this commitment, your prospects are good.
