Ferguson Scholarship (Aston University)

You will receive your full tuition fees paid (worth £22,500,, approximately 26,000 euros) as well as £6,000 (approximately 7,000 euros) as a contribution towards your living costs. This covers a one-year Master’s degree programme at Aston University in Birmingham, UK. The scholarship is funded by the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust, which helps students who would otherwise be unable to afford to study in the UK. Three scholarships will be awarded for the 2026/27 academic year.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying for a full-time Master’s programme (MSc or MPH) at Aston University.
• Field of study: Only certain degree programmes in the field of health and life sciences are considered, including pharmacy, pharmaceutical administration, biotechnology, neuroscience for drug research, psychology (reskilling), bioinformatics and genomic medicine, as well as the Master of Public Health.
• Offer in hand: You have already been granted conditional or unconditional admission to one of these degree programmes.
• Nationality: You come from India or an African country.
• Grades: You hold a degree with a grade of 2:1 (Upper Second Class, a very good undergraduate result) or an equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
• How you fund yourself: You are funding your studies yourself and have not applied via an agency. Applications forwarded by agencies will be automatically removed.
• Visa requirement: If you choose this option, you must provide evidence to the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) that you can cover the remaining living costs yourself.

How to apply

First, apply for your chosen degree programme via the relevant programme pages on the Aston University website. Then complete the online scholarship application form, ensuring you quote your nine-digit application number. The application deadline is 29 May 2026. Results will be announced by email in June 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Only three scholarships are awarded each year, and the criteria are strictly defined: a specific selection of Master’s degree programmes in the field of health and life sciences, applicants from India or Africa, and existing admission to a programme. This keeps the pool of eligible applicants small, but given that there are only three places and the applicants are of a high standard, competition is fierce. If you clearly fit the subject area, hold a degree with a grade of 2:1 or better, and have already been offered a place, you’ll have the best chance if you apply early.
