Academic Excellence Scholarship (University College Birmingham)

You will receive a one-off discount of up to about 1,150 EUR (up to £1,000) towards your tuition fees for one academic year at University College Birmingham in the United Kingdom. The amount will be deducted from your fees and will not be paid out to you; furthermore, you will never have to repay it. The university awards this grant as a reward for students who have achieved outstanding academic results. It is awarded to only a limited number of students each year.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You have accepted an offer to study a full-time degree programme at University College Birmingham.
• Level and length: Your degree programme lasts at least one year and leads to a higher education qualification, such as a ‘Foundation Degree’, a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree.
• Grades: You can demonstrate outstanding achievement, for example through grades that are significantly higher than expected, a research project that has received a particularly high mark, or a clear commitment to supporting other students.
• Nationality: Open to applicants from all countries.
• No double funding: You have not previously received any other UCB scholarship and are not yet enrolled on the degree programme for which you are applying.
• Visa: If you require a student visa for the UK, you will only receive confirmation once this visa has been granted.

How to apply

Please complete the university’s scholarship form and send it, together with proof of your marks, to the Enrolment Office. You can apply as soon as you have submitted an application for a place at university. The application deadline was 25 June.

How realistic are your chances?

The scholarship is open to students of all nationalities and from all academic disciplines, so the range is very broad. Only a limited number of scholarships are awarded, and you must be able to demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. If your grades are significantly above the expected standard and you can provide evidence of this, your prospects are good. It is worth applying early, as soon as you have applied for a place at university, whilst scholarships are still available.
