Aberystwyth University Entrance Scholarship

You will receive about 1,150 EUR (£1,000) per year if you are among the 50 top performers in the entrance examination. The amount is paid in two instalments – in December and March – and is repeated every year of your Bachelor’s degree. This highest tier is known as the ‘University Scholarship’. This also entitles you to an unconditional offer of a place and guaranteed accommodation at the university for the entire duration of your studies. The next 100 highest-scoring applicants will receive a ‘Merit Award’: about 1,150 EUR (£1,000) exclusively in the first year, as well as an unconditional offer of a place. A very good examination result may also lead to unconditional admission without a cash award. The money does not need to be repaid, provided the conditions are met. Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying for a Bachelor’s degree programme at Aberystwyth University.
• Application status: You had already applied for a degree programme before sitting the scholarship examinations.
• Field of study: All subjects except veterinary medicine, veterinary nursing and nursing.
• Nationality: Applicants from the UK and abroad are welcome to apply. Separate criteria and prize tiers apply to international applicants.
• Age: You are over 17.
• Exams: To qualify, you must sit two online exams. The awards will go to the participants with the highest total scores.

How to apply

Complete the online application form, specify your school’s examination coordinator and select two examination subjects that are relevant to your chosen degree programme. You will then sit two 90-minute online examinations on the same day at your own school or university. For the 2026 round, the registration deadline was 27 January 2026, and the exams took place on 3 February 2026. The results will be sent by email approximately four to six weeks later.

How realistic are your chances?

Places are allocated solely on the basis of examination results, meaning that up to 150 scholarships are awarded each year to the best applicants. Any undergraduate applicant can take part, so the field of applicants is large. However, the number of scholarships is generous, and success depends more on how well you perform on the day of the exams than on your background. Prepare thoroughly for the two A-level-standard exams to achieve the highest marks.
