About this scholarship

What you get

You get a one-off payment that lowers the cost of your Physics studies at the University of Bologna. How much you get depends on your gender, your family's income and the maximum fee set for your course. Income is measured by the Italian ISEE indicator, a standard figure for a household's economic situation. Female students with an ISEE of 33,000 EUR or less can get up to 90% of the maximum fee covered; male students in the same income band up to 70%. Above 33,000 EUR, or if you submit no ISEE, it is 70% for women and 50% for men. The typical payment is around 597 EUR, and the smallest is 200 EUR, paid in a single instalment.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a related subject such as astrophysics and cosmology at the University of Bologna.
  • Timing: You started your degree in 2025/2026 and re-enrolled in 2026/2027, so you are now moving on to your second year of study.
  • Credits: By 30 September 2026, you will have earned at least two-thirds of the credit points (CFU/ECTS) required for your first year of study.
  • Status: You have neither switched to a different degree programme nor withdrawn from your studies.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. International students who do not hold an Italian identity card should use their university login details instead.
  • One award only: You cannot also apply for the ER.GO scholarship supplement scheme 20% for women studying STEM subjects, as this serves the same purpose.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the ‘Studenti Online’ portal. Please use your digital SPID identity or, if you are an international student, your university access details. The application deadline is 27 October 2026 at 12:00. Within each degree programme, applicants are ranked according to credit points, grade point average and income, and funding is allocated in accordance with this ranking.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed exclusively at second-year physics students at a university who have earned two-thirds of their first-year credit points; the target group is therefore small. Places are allocated on the basis of grades, credit points and income, and are not awarded to everyone; furthermore, the grant amount per subject is fixed. Better grades and a lower ISEE score improve your chances. If you meet the eligibility criteria and can demonstrate solid academic results, your prospects are good.
