About this grant / loan
ADiSU Umbria special grant for students in serious difficulty
You will receive a lump sum of one-off payment between 500 and 2,000 EUR, which will be paid out once by bank transfer. The authority will determine the exact amount based on your circumstances. This is emergency assistance and not a monthly grant. The funds come from ADiSU Umbria, the regional authority for the right to higher education, and are intended for students who are unable to continue their studies due to a serious financial or family crisis.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at a university or higher education institution in Umbria: the University of Perugia, the University for Foreigners in Perugia, the ‘Francesco Morlacchi’ Conservatoire of Music in Perugia, the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia or the Higher Institute for Language Teaching in Perugia.
- Serious difficulty: You are facing a genuine crisis that is affecting your studies, for example because a family member has lost their job, a parent has died, is ill or is going through a divorce, you yourself are ill, or you are facing high childcare costs. The event must have occurred within the last year.
- Income limit: Your family income is below the regional ISEE thresholds set out in the call for applications.
- No other grant: You are not receiving a regional scholarship or any other form of public or private funding this academic year.
- Study progress: You have achieved the minimum number of credit points (CFU) required for your year of study and your degree programme.
- No higher degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently aiming for.
- Field of study: All subjects can apply.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Non-Italian students should log in using their ADiSU login details.
- How often: You can only receive this grant once during your studies – or twice, should your circumstances take a turn for the worse.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the online application portal on the ADiSU Umbria website. Log in using an Italian digital ID (SPID or CIE). Non-Italian students should log in using their ADiSU login details. The application deadline is 15 June. A committee will review the applications and publish the results.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is subject to strict conditions: you must be studying at a specific educational institution in Umbria, provide documentary evidence of a recent serious crisis, and meet the income thresholds. As a result, the number of people eligible for the grant remains small. Funds are paid out in the order in which applications are received until the budget is exhausted; therefore, applying early is clearly to your advantage. If you meet the criteria and can provide evidence of your situation, your chances are good.
