University of Bologna - Subsidies for a degree in Statistics

What you get

Upon enrolment on a statistics degree programme at the University of Bologna, you will receive a sum of one-off payment of about 500 EUR. The exact amount depends on your family income (measured using the Italian ISEE indicator) and your gender. Women with an ISEE of up to 33,000 EUR receive the highest amount, followed by men on low incomes and, finally, students on higher incomes. The funding comes from the University of Bologna’s Student Financial Aid Office, which runs a comprehensive support programme for STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

Who can apply

• Where you study: You’re studying at the University of Bologna in Italy.
• Subject: You are enrolled on a statistics degree programme, such as ‘Statistica’ (Bachelor’s), ‘Scienze Statistiche’, ‘Statistical Sciences’ or ‘Scienze Statistiche, Attuariali e Finanziarie’ (Master’s).
• Study year: You initially enrolled on 2025/2026 and are now in your second year on 2026/2027.
• Credits: By 30 September 2026, you will have earned at least two-thirds of your credit points (CFU) for the first year of study.
• Still enrolled: As of the reference date, you are still studying a statistics subject that counts towards your degree and have neither discontinued your studies nor changed your degree programme.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
• Income proof: Submission of an ISEE income certificate is optional. Submitting such a certificate may result in a higher level of funding and improve your ranking.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via studenti.unibo.it. Log in using SPID. If you are an international student without SPID, please use your university account. The application deadline is 27 October 2026 at 12:00. Scholarships are awarded based on your number of credit points, your weighted average mark and your income situation.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must be taking a specific statistics course at a specific university, be in your second year of study, and have achieved the required credit points. The target group is therefore small. Funding is allocated according to a clear ranking based on grades and income. If you meet the eligibility criteria, have a strong academic record and apply by the deadline, your chances are good.
