What you get

You will receive a scholarship of about EUR 1,725 to EUR 5,175 per year (£1,500 to £4,500) for up to 12 months. The exact amount will be determined on an individual basis. The funds are intended to cover your tuition fees and/or living costs whilst you are undertaking your postgraduate studies at the University of Nottingham. The Grundy Educational Trust awards up to five of these scholarships each year for subjects in the natural sciences and engineering.

Who can apply

• University and degree: You have been granted conditional or unconditional admission to a postgraduate programme at the University of Nottingham. This may be a Master’s degree programme with a focus on teaching or research, or a PhD.
• Field of study: Your degree programme paves the way for a career in science or technology, in industry, in business or as a self-employed professional.
• Nationality: You are a British citizen.
• Age: You are under 30.
• Financial need: You are unable to cover your fees and/or living costs from other sources, and your parents are also unable to provide you with sufficient financial support.
• Grades and motivation: You have a very good academic record and a clear reason for choosing this degree programme.

How realistic are your chances?

Eligibility for this grant is strictly limited: you must be a British citizen in accordance with 30, hold an offer of a place from the University of Nottingham on a science or engineering degree programme, and have a demonstrable financial need. This means that the pool of eligible applicants is small. With up to five grants awarded each year, a suitable applicant who can demonstrate their financial need has a good chance of success.
