About this scholarship
Lancaster Bursary
You will receive about 1,150 EUR (£1,000) per year of study, which is paid out annually in two equal instalments for the entire duration of your Bachelor’s degree. Lancaster University in the United Kingdom awards this scholarship to students from low-income households. You will receive it every year, provided your household income remains below £35,000.. You may combine it with the ‘Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship (Home)’, provided you also meet the relevant criteria.
Who can apply
- Degree level: You are starting a full-time bachelor’s degree programme in 2026 or 2027.
- Where you study: Your degree programme takes place entirely on Lancaster University’s Bailrigg Campus in Lancaster.
- Fee status: You are a home student (from the UK) and not an international student.
- Government funding: You are eligible for student finance from the UK government (Student Finance or SAAS), and your income has been assessed.
- Financial need: Your household income is less than £35,000.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Repeated years: You will not receive the scholarship in any year that you repeat.
How to apply
No separate application is required. If you meet the eligibility criteria, Lancaster will automatically identify you once you have started your course and will confirm your approval by email around mid-October.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is awarded on a means-tested basis and is not subject to a selection process. There is no set number of places, so anyone who meets the criteria regarding income and tuition fee status will receive the grant. If you are a domestic undergraduate student at the Bailrigg Campus whose household income is below £35,000 and who receives state-funded student finance, you are virtually guaranteed to receive the scholarship. The only exclusion criteria are the income limit or international student status.
