Benefit

During your on-campus Master’s programme at University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, you will receive approximately 1,354 EUR per year to cover your living costs. The funding is available for a period of up to two years and applies to degree programmes in the humanities and social sciences. Family and friends of Roy Jenkins, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, established this scholarship to attract talented graduates from EU countries to Oxford.

Eligibility

• Degree level: You are applying for a full-time Master’s programme with on-campus teaching in Oxford.
• Subject: You are studying humanities or social sciences.
• Nationality: You are from a country in the European Union.
• Admission first: You have already applied to Oxford and been offered a place. The scholarship is awarded exclusively to students who have already been admitted.

How to apply

You do not need to submit a separate scholarship application. First, apply to the University of Oxford for your Master’s programme as usual. In the spring, a selection committee comprising professors from the Europaeum Group of European universities will assess the shortlisted applicants and propose a shortlist. The Jenkins Memorial Board will then make the final decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is granted to very few people. Each year, it is awarded to just a handful of graduates from the EU in the humanities and social sciences who have already secured a place at Oxford. Gaining a place at Oxford is the real hurdle, and the pool of applicants is small. If you clearly meet the requirements regarding your field of study and nationality and have been offered a place, you are a serious contender. The winners are selected by a jury, so outstanding academic achievement is crucial.
