UCL Global Scholarships (UCL Global Masters Scholarship / UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship)

Benefit

You get money to study at University College London (UCL) as an international student. There are two lines. For a Master's degree you get 15,000 GBP (about 17,500 EUR) for one year. If your programme lasts two years, this is split over both years at 50% each. The money covers your tuition first, and any remainder is paid to you in three instalments for living costs. For a Bachelor's degree the award covers your full tuition fees for the standard length of your programme. A smaller number of these also add a living-cost allowance and a lump sum towards extra costs such as visa fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge (the fee that lets you use the UK health service). UCL pays these awards itself, based purely on financial need, with no grades required. For 2026/27 there are up to 85 Master's scholarships and up to 33 Bachelor's scholarships, including a few reserved for students from India and Japan.

Eligibility

• Degree level: You are applying for a full-time Bachelor's, or a full-time taught Master's, at UCL for 2026/27.
• Where you study: You study in person in London. Distance-learning Master's programmes do not count.
• Field of study: Any UCL programme is fine.
• Nationality: You are from any country outside the UK and pay the Overseas (international) fee rate.
• Financial need: You come from a lower-income household. As a guide, UCL treats a yearly household income of 42,875 GBP (about 50,000 EUR) or less as lower-income. Higher incomes can still be considered.
• Admission: You have already sent a full admission application to UCL. You do not need an offer yet, but your Overseas fee status must be confirmed.

How to apply

First send your UCL admission application, then apply for the scholarship. Bachelor's applicants apply through UCL's Portico system by 27 April 2026, 5pm BST. Master's applicants apply through the International Masters Awards platform by 7 May 2026, 5pm BST. This single application also considers you for several other UCL scholarships. Selection is based on documents: shortlisted applicants send proof of income in mid-May, and results come out in June.

How realistic are your chances?

These scholarships turn on one clear filter: financial need for international students at a single well-known university, so the applicant pool is large. There are no grade requirements, which widens the field further, and only a fixed number of awards are given each year. Your best move is to apply as soon as the round opens, make sure your admission application is complete before the deadline, and be ready to document a genuinely low household income.
