Keith Murray Graduate Scholarship

You get your full tuition fees paid for a one-year taught master's programme at the University of Oxford, up to about EUR 58,000 (GBP 50,000). The award covers course fees for the normal fee period only. It does not pay for rent or living costs. You can still take this scholarship if you have already secured partial funding from elsewhere. It comes from Lincoln College, one of Oxford's colleges, through a fund set up in 1983 to honour Lord Murray, the college's former rector.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are an international student from outside the UK. UK nationals cannot apply.
• Offer in hand: You already hold an offer for a one-year taught master's at Oxford starting autumn 2026. You must have this offer before you apply.
• Programme type: The course must be a one-year taught degree, not research-based.
• Field of study: All subjects are eligible.
• Grades: You have an excellent academic record, judged from your Oxford graduate application form.
• Beyond studies: You show strong potential to contribute to college life outside lectures, for example in the arts, student leadership, community service or sport. This carries a lot of weight.
• UK study: Applicants who have not previously studied in the UK are preferred, but this is a bonus, not a requirement.

How to apply

You apply through the form on Lincoln College's scholarship page by 1 May 2026. You submit a separate personal statement about your extracurricular activities and ambitions, plus references focused on those activities. There is no interview. You can expect to hear back around the end of June.

How realistic are your chances?

Eligibility is fairly narrow: you must already hold an Oxford offer for a one-year taught master's and come from outside the UK. That shrinks the pool a lot. The decisive factor is your out-of-classroom record, so strong references about your arts, leadership or community work set you apart from applicants with grades alone. If you clearly fit and can show real extracurricular impact, your prospects are solid.
