What you get

If you studied at Sheffield Hallam University, you get money off your postgraduate fees when you come back for a master's or research course. The discount depends on when and what you studied:

• 2,000 GBP off (about 2,300 EUR): A one-off cut on full-time or distance-learning postgraduate fees, for a course starting in 2026/27.
• 1,000 GBP off (about 1,150 EUR): A one-off scholarship if you do not qualify for the 2,000 GBP discount. Part-time students get 500 GBP per year for the first two years only. A one-year part-time course gets 500 GBP in total.
• 10% off online master's courses: A percentage discount on any of the university's online master's programmes.
• 10% off research courses: A percentage discount on postgraduate research fees.

All of these come from Sheffield Hallam University, for its own graduates. You can only use one at a time. If you qualify for several, you get the highest one. You cannot combine them with any other award or discount.

Who can apply

• Where you studied: You already hold a full degree from Sheffield Hallam University. For the 2,000 GBP discount, a degree from one of its UK or overseas partner institutions also counts.
• 2,000 GBP discount timing: You completed a full-time undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree, PGCE or PhD in 2024/25 or 2025/26.
• 1,000 GBP scholarship timing: You graduated before 2024, or your new course does not qualify for the 2,000 GBP discount. Former study-abroad and exchange students may also qualify.
• New course: You are starting a full postgraduate course, not a single module and not by transferring credits.
• Nationality: Open to both UK and international students.
• Which courses do not count: The discounts do not apply to PGCE programmes, Department of Health funded courses, the Masters in Architecture, foundation degrees, degree apprenticeships or HND programmes. If you only did an exchange or study-abroad stay without earning a degree, you do not qualify for the 2,000 GBP discount.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Just apply for your postgraduate course as normal. The discount is added automatically if you meet the criteria, even if you have already applied or accepted an offer. Some courses have limited places, so apply early. If you defer the 2,000 GBP discount to 2027/28 or later, it no longer applies.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. It is an automatic discount for the university's own graduates, so there is no selection and no interview. If you fit the rules for one of the four options, you get it. The main thing to check is that your course is on the eligible list and that your graduation year matches the tier you are aiming for.
