About this scholarship

ENS Paris-Saclay International Incoming Scholarship Program

You receive 1,000 EUR per month, paid at the end of each month, to study or do research at École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay near Paris. How long you get it depends on which track you join: 10 months for a second master's year, up to 6 months for a research internship, or up to 12 months for a research stay during a PhD. For the master's track, your registration fees at ENS Paris-Saclay are also covered. The school takes in 15 to 30 people a year through this program. You pay your own tuition, student fees (CVEC), housing, library and local transport, as the grant does not cover these.

Who can apply

  • Nationality: You are a citizen of a country other than France.
  • Your track: You want to do one of three things at ENS Paris-Saclay: a second master's year (M2) after finishing the first year (M1) at Université Paris-Saclay; a research internship of up to 6 months during pre-doctoral study abroad; or a research stay of up to 12 months as part of a PhD you are enrolled in abroad.
  • Field of study: Open across the school's departments, including chemistry, computer science, maths, physics, engineering, economics, sociology, history, design and English studies.
  • First time: You have not received this grant before.
  • No double funding: For the master's and internship tracks, you hold no other grant for the same period.
  • Grades: You are among the top students of your program.
  • Language: You have good French or English (depending on your program) and can show an official certificate such as DELF, DALF, TOEIC or TOEFL.

How to apply

You cannot apply on your own; the school does not accept unsolicited applications. An ENS researcher or teacher in charge of your training, internship or research stay must propose you to the International Relations Office, which then sends you the application form. For the master's track, the proposal deadline is in late June and the decision comes in early July. For research stays and internships, you return your form at least 3 months before your stay begins, with selection rounds in July and January.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a tightly controlled award. You must first be backed by an ENS researcher, and each teaching unit can nominate only a handful of candidates for at most two scholarships. With only 15 to 30 places a year, the real hurdle is securing that internal backing, not an open competition. If an ENS contact already supports your project and you are a top student in your field, your prospects are solid. Note that the rules state this is the last edition of the program in this format.
