University of Porto - UP Active Citizenship Prize - for UP students and former students

Benefit

You will receive a one-off cash prize of 1,000 EUR, as well as a certificate and a note in your academic transcript. The University of Porto awards this prize every year to students who have distinguished themselves through extracurricular activities demonstrating active civic engagement. The winners are selected in five categories: environmental protection; sport, health and wellbeing; entrepreneurship; humanitarian or charitable work; and teaching. The award ceremony takes place in March as part of the University Day celebrations.

Eligibility

• University: You study at the University of Porto, or you studied there in the most recent academic year.
• Level of study: All levels of study count: Bachelor’s, Master’s, integrated Master’s and PhD.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines and all faculties.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• What you did: You have carried out extracurricular projects that promote civic engagement in one of the five areas. The projects are assessed on the basis of their relevance and sustainability.

How to apply

You cannot nominate yourself. Another member of the university must put you forward: a fellow student, graduate, lecturer, researcher or member of staff who does not work directly with you. This person must complete the application form and email it to the Rector’s Office. For the current round, nominations are open until 20 February.
