About this scholarship

What iStudy gives you

You get a monthly grant of 350 to 450 EUR for a study exchange at a partner university abroad. You also pay no tuition fees at the host university and no student fee at Graz while you are away. The University of Graz International Office runs the programme and sends you to partner universities across five continents, from Argentina and Japan to the United Kingdom, for one semester or a full academic year. Courses you pass abroad count towards your Graz degree, and you get one or two extra tolerance semesters, so the exchange does not put you behind. If you have fewer opportunities, for example a disability, a chronic illness with extra costs, or children you take with you, you can apply for an extra 250 EUR per month plus inclusion support based on your real costs.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled as a regular degree student at the University of Graz.
  • Field of study: All subjects are welcome. Most partner universities accept students from any field, though a few set their own limits.
  • Study progress: As a bachelor's student, you must have finished at least the first year of your subject by the time the exchange starts, not by the application date.
  • Previous exchanges: You have spent at most one semester abroad in your current study level through Graz exchange programmes.
  • Language: You meet the language requirements of the partner university, for example proven by your school-leaving certificate.
  • No Graz job: You do not hold an employment contract at the University of Graz during the exchange.

How to apply

You apply online through the Mobility-Online portal, reached via UNIGRAZonline. Mark your application as complete before the deadline. The next deadline for the 2027/28 academic year is announced in autumn 2026. Only complete applications submitted on time are considered.

How realistic are your chances?

This is open only to University of Graz students, so the applicant pool is limited to your own campus rather than the whole country. Places are tied to specific partner universities, so popular destinations fill up while others stay open, and the portal even lists remaining spots. If you clearly meet the requirements, stay flexible about where you go and apply early with a complete file, your prospects are good.
