About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a one-off financial grant to help you complete your studies if you find yourself in serious financial difficulty during your final year of study. There is no set amount. The foundation decides on a case-by-case basis, taking into account your financial situation and your academic performance. The Fondation Entraide Hostater is a charitable foundation based in Paris that supports students in genuine financial need, enabling them to complete their degree when financial difficulties stand in their way.

Eligibility

  • Study phase: You are in the final year of your degree.
  • Track record: You did not fail any exams or repeat any academic years during your degree.
  • Length of studies: You must not be enrolled beyond the sixth year of your degree course. This restriction does not apply if you are studying architecture or medicine.
  • Financial need: You are facing serious financial difficulties.
  • No other funding: You must not be receiving any other scholarship or ongoing financial support to complete your studies. If you are an international student who has already received a scholarship from the French government or your own government, you are not eligible to apply.
  • Nationality: Both French and international students are welcome to apply.
  • Field of study: Anyone interested is welcome to apply. However, you are not eligible for funding if you are a PhD student or are studying for a ‘Diploma of University’ (DU) or another high-cost degree programme. As a PhD student, however, you may be eligible for support towards the printing costs of your thesis.
  • Priority: Priority will be given to younger students on a degree programme that leads directly into employment.

How to apply

You do not apply for the grant directly to the foundation. Instead, you should contact the social services department (service social) of your regional CROUS, the public body responsible for student financial support in your region. This body decides who receives the grant based on your financial circumstances and your academic results.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small target group. You must be in your final year of study, have an impeccable academic record, demonstrate genuine financial hardship and not be receiving any other funding – which is why only a few students are eligible. If you clearly meet these criteria – and particularly if you are younger and are studying a career-oriented degree programme – your prospects are good. PhD students, students on the DU programme and those on expensive degree programmes have virtually no chance of being selected.
