About this scholarship

The Alsted Foundation grant

You will receive a one-off grant of around 1,340 EUR (5,000 to 15,000 Danish kroner) to fund further training or a study trip abroad in the field of agriculture. The Danish Alsted Foundation (Alstedfonden) awards a total of approximately 100,000 kroner annually, thereby supporting several people in each funding round. A smaller portion of this goes to people who have worked long and loyally in the Danish agricultural sector.

Who can apply

  • Who this is for: You are a young farmer or are undertaking an apprenticeship in agriculture.
  • What you use it for: You are planning or are currently undertaking an apprenticeship, further training or a study trip abroad in the field of agriculture.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • Where you study: Every school or university counts.

How to apply

There is no application form. You should send an open application to the Foundation’s administrative office in Sorø, Denmark. The deadline for applications is 1 March each year.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed exclusively at young farmers who are undertaking agricultural training or a study trip abroad; consequently, the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly fit this profile and can justify your planned trip, your prospects are quite good. As the total amount available is limited, the grants are small and are intended to supplement your costs rather than cover them in full.
