Amsterdam Economics and Business Talent Fund

You get a full scholarship that covers the cost of a 1-year Master's programme at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Economics and Business. The award runs for 1 year and cannot be extended. The faculty sets the exact euro amount each year and does not publish it in advance, but it is meant to cover your full study costs for that year. The faculty offers it to attract talented students from outside the EU who cannot pay for a Master's on their own. Only a limited number are awarded each year.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying to a 1-year Master's programme at UvA Economics and Business, such as Accountancy and Control, Business Administration, Business Economics, Finance or Economics.
• Nationality: You hold a non-EU nationality. EU/EEA students cannot apply.
• Financial need: You cannot pay for a Master's yourself. You can prove this with your parents' recent income tax statements or three recent salary slips.
• Grades: You are among the very best, meaning at least (Magna) Cum Laude in the Dutch system, First Class Honours in the UK or a GPA of 3.7 in the US.
• No other funding: You do not receive Dutch student finance ('Studiefinanciering') and hold no other full scholarship for the same period.
• Language: You meet the English requirement where it applies, for example TOEFL iBT 100, IELTS Academic 7.0 or Pearson PTE Academic 71.
• Visa: You can meet the Dutch immigration (IND) visa rules.

How to apply

First apply to your chosen Master's programme through Studielink before 15 January. Then upload the scholarship documents: proof of your GPA, a recommendation letter confirming you are in the top 10%, a statement of your financial situation and a motivation letter of at most 300 words. The application window opens in early October. The strongest candidates go through an extra selection round, and results are announced at the end of April.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. It targets only non-EU students in genuine financial need, with results in the very top percentile, competing for a limited number of places. If you clearly meet the grade and need requirements and can document them, your prospects are reasonable, since the strict criteria keep the field smaller than for open scholarships. A precise, well-evidenced financial statement and a focused motivation letter set apart applicants who all have top grades.
