BU Academic Excellence Scholarship (International)

You get £2,500 (about EUR 3,000) knocked off your tuition fees for your first year at Bournemouth University in England. It is a one-off tuition fee reduction, not a cash payment, and it applies only to year one of your course. The award comes from Bournemouth University itself, and there is no limit on how many students can receive it.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are starting a full-time bachelor's degree at Bournemouth University.
• Fee status: You count as an international (overseas) student for fee purposes.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Grades: You reach ABB or better at UK A-level, or the equivalent for your country. That means Abitur grade 2 or better in Germany, 32 points in the International Baccalaureate, or a GPA of 3.25 plus SAT 1300 in the USA. If your country is not on BU's equivalency list, the admissions team assesses your grades individually.
• Where you study: You study at Bournemouth University itself, not at one of its UK partner colleges.
• Other awards: You have not received another BU academic scholarship. You can still combine this with a BU sport or music scholarship.

How to apply

There is no application to fill in. Once BU has your results, they check automatically whether you qualify and tell you if you have won the scholarship. It applies to courses starting in January 2026, September 2026 or January 2027. You cannot move it to a later start date.

How realistic are your chances?

The number of these scholarships is unlimited, so you are not competing against other applicants. If you hit the ABB-equivalent grades and study a full-time bachelor's at BU as an international student, you get it automatically. The only real hurdle is your grades. Meet them, and the tuition reduction is effectively guaranteed.
