UCL Israel Alumni Association and the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) - British Chevening/UCL Israel Alumni/Chaim Herzog Award

Benefit

You will receive a fully funded 12-month master's degree at University College London (UCL) in London. The scholarship covers your tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, a return economy-class flight, a lump sum for travel and excess baggage, a grant for your dissertation, and your entry visa for the UK. The scholarship is awarded by the UCL Israel Alumni Association in collaboration with the British Embassy in Israel as part of the UK Government’s Chevening Scholarship Programme (the United Kingdom’s international scholarship programme). It is named after the late Israeli President Chaim Herzog, a law graduate of UCL.

Eligibility

• Nationality and residence: You are an Israeli citizen and currently live in Israel.
• Previous studies: You have a degree from an Israeli university.
• Degree: You would like to complete a one-year on-campus Master’s degree programme at UCL.
• Field of study: Any topic is acceptable, but preference is given to politics, economics and history.
• Age: You are between 25 and 40 years old.
• Work experience: You must have at least two years’ professional experience at the time of your application.
• UK study: It is an advantage if you have not previously studied in the UK, but this is not a requirement.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Chevening application system. The deadline for applications is 8 November. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined. It is awarded to a single Israeli graduate from a specific London university, so the pool of eligible applicants is small compared to open scholarships. If you clearly meet the requirements regarding age, work experience and place of residence, and can provide compelling reasons for undertaking a Master’s degree at UCL, your chances are good. Please note that the last documented application round took place several years ago; you should therefore check whether the scholarship is still available before basing your plans on it.
