What danceWEB gives you

You will be taking part in a five-week dance training and exchange programme in Vienna. It takes place every summer as part of ImPulsTanz, the Vienna International Dance Festival. The danceWEB association covers the majority of the costs, amounting to approximately 6,450 EUR, using funding from the EU’s ‘Creative Europe’ programme. You’ll receive free places on around 250 festival workshops and research projects, free entry to all performances and the symposium, as well as free accommodation in Vienna for the full five weeks. You’ll also receive either an ImPulsTanz bike or a monthly travelcard for public transport. A well-known artist will act as your mentor (an experienced guide who will advise you in one-to-one sessions), and you will become part of the global network of former participants. For 2026, the programme runs from 8 July to 12 August. You are responsible for your own travel costs, living expenses, visa and insurance. You must also cover the 2,500 EUR yourself, either through an arts funding body in your country or from your own resources. danceWEB will help you find sources of funding.

Who can apply

• What you do: You are a dancer, choreographer or performer and are aiming for a professional career.
• Individual only: You are applying on your own behalf. Duos and groups will not be accepted.
• Age: Ideally 22 to 30. This is a guideline, not a fixed age limit, but you must be of legal age.
• Language: You speak English well; it is the working language of the programme.
• Nationality: Anyone can apply, whether from European or non-European countries.
• Field: You work in the field of contemporary dance and performance.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the online tool. You will need to upload your CV, a personal statement, a headshot, links to videos of your previous work, and an optional letter of recommendation – all in English. For the 2026 round, the application window ran from 8 October to early December 2025, and the results will be announced by email in mid-February. Once you have been admitted, you must confirm your place and pay the fee of 2,500 EUR by mid-June.

How realistic are your chances?

It is a well-known international programme that attracts professional dancers from all over the world, meaning that places are highly competitive. Selection is based on your personal statement and your video work. Your chances will improve if you can demonstrate a clear career path and a valid reason for working with that year’s mentor. Please bear in mind the financial hurdle: you will still need to cover 2,500 EUR as well as your own travel and living costs, so make sure you plan your finances well in advance.
