Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship (University of Derby)

You get about 2,300 EUR (£2,000) off your tuition fees in your first year at the University of Derby in the UK. This is a fee reduction, not cash in hand, so it does not cover living costs. It applies only to your first year. If you pay your full annual tuition fee before you enrol, you can add a Full Payment Discount of about 1,150 EUR (£1,000) on top.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You take a full-time taught master's or MRes course at a UK campus of the University of Derby.
• Which courses count: Undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses qualify. PhD, MPhil, accelerated courses, online study, foundation and pre-sessional language courses do not.
• Fee status: You pay international (Overseas) tuition fees and fund your studies yourself. You do not qualify if a third party fully sponsors you.
• Start date: You begin in April 2026, September 2026 or January 2027.
• Admission: You meet all the entry conditions for your course.
• Nationality and subject: Any nationality paying international fees can apply, in any subject.
• Other awards: You cannot combine it with a government scholarship such as Chevening, Commonwealth or the British Council GREAT Scholarship, or with other Derby scholarships. If you also qualify for the Alumni Discount, you get whichever is worth more.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Once you have an offer and meet the conditions, you get the scholarship automatically when you enrol. It appears on your CAS letter (your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), it is deducted from your tuition fee, and you are told by email.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an automatic fee reduction, not a competitive award. If you are a self-funding international student on an eligible full-time taught course starting in one of the listed intakes, you get it without competing against anyone. The main things that rule you out are being fully sponsored, holding a clashing government scholarship, or studying a PhD or accelerated course.
