About this scholarship

What you get

The University of Dundee in Scotland cuts your tuition fees for a full-time, on-campus master's degree. Two separate schemes sit side by side. The Global Excellence Scholarship takes 8,000 GBP (about 9,200 EUR) off your fees for each year of study. The Vice Chancellor's Regional Scholarship is smaller and depends on where you are from. Students from Africa or South Asia get 6,500 GBP (about 7,500 EUR) in their first year and 4,000 GBP (about 4,600 EUR) in any further year. Students from the Americas, East Asia, the Middle East or South-East Asia get 4,000 GBP (about 4,600 EUR). Both are fee reductions only, not cash paid to you. You cannot hold both at once: if you meet the higher grade bar of the Global Excellence Scholarship before you enrol, that one applies instead.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You hold an offer for a full-time, on-campus taught master's programme at the University of Dundee. Research degrees like PhD or MRes do not count.
  • Field of study: Any subject is open. The PGDip in Professional Legal Practice is excluded from the Global Excellence award.
  • Fee status: You pay international student fees, not UK resident fees.
  • Tuition fee: Your programme's fee is 22,250 GBP (about 25,700 EUR) or more. Cheaper programmes do not qualify.
  • Grades (Global Excellence only): You have a UK first-class degree or an equivalent international result.
  • Where you live (Vice Chancellor's only): Your home is in Africa, South Asia, East Asia or South-East Asia. This scheme has no minimum grade.

How to apply

There is no separate application. When you apply to study at Dundee, the admissions team checks your eligibility automatically at the offer stage, using the documents and proof of residence you already submitted. For January 2027 entry, the Global Excellence deadline is 29 January 2027. Your final grades must be confirmed; predicted or pending results are not enough.

How realistic are your chances?

You do not compete against other applicants. If you meet the fixed criteria, the fee reduction is granted, so your prospects come down to whether you fit. The Vice Chancellor's award is the easier route, since it needs no minimum grade, only the right home region and a qualifying programme. The Global Excellence award pays more but requires a first-class degree, so it suits top performers aiming at the more expensive master's programmes.
