About this scholarship

Benefit

If you study at a state university in France, you will receive approximately 700 EUR per month. Master’s students receive 9 per month. PhD students on a ‘co-tutelle’ programme (a PhD supervised jointly in Pristina and France) receive 6. You will also receive French health and social security cover, one return flight per year if you live in Kosovo, and support from Campus France, the agency that helps international students settle in. Student accommodation may be available, subject to availability. The scholarship is valid for 1 years and may be extended. It is funded by the French government and awarded by the French Embassy in Kosovo; approximately 2 scholarships are awarded each year.

Eligibility

  • Nationality: You are a citizen of Kosovo.
  • Where you study: You are studying at a public university in France.
  • Level: You are starting a Master’s degree (in the first or second year) or a PhD under a co-supervision arrangement.
  • Admission: You have a pre-registration or a confirmation of admission from a French higher education institution.
  • Age: You are at least 20.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Language: A very good knowledge of French is recommended.
  • Priority: A comprehensive application portfolio is preferred, particularly for a Master’s programme or a co-supervised PhD.

How to apply

You must apply by 30 May to the French Embassy in Kosovo (to the Department for Cooperation and Cultural Activities). The Embassy will conduct its own selection process.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very limited: there are only around 2 places per year, which are reserved exclusively for Kosovar nationals who have already been admitted to a French public university. The pool of eligible applicants is small, as is the number of places. If you clearly meet the eligibility criteria, have a solid command of French and submit a strong application, your prospects are good, although priority is given to candidates with a Master’s degree or a co-tutelle PhD profile.
