About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive 10,000 EUR for one year of full-time study in Ireland. The amount will be paid in two instalments of 5,000 EUR each, one per semester. Your Irish higher education institution will also waive all tuition fees and the enrolment fee for the scholarship year. The funding is valid for one year. If your course lasts three semesters, your university may decide to waive the fees for the entire course. Around 60 of these scholarships are awarded to postgraduate students each year. The programme is funded by the Irish Government and administered by the Higher Education Authority (HEA).

Who can apply

  • Level of study: You are starting a Master’s degree at an Irish higher education institution. Both research-oriented and teaching-oriented programmes are eligible, provided the course lasts at least one year.
  • Study mode: You are a full-time student, attend face-to-face classes and live in Ireland all year round.
  • Admission offer: You have already received a conditional or unconditional offer of admission from one of the approximately 23 Irish universities taking part in this programme.
  • Field of study: All subjects are open.
  • Where you are from: You are permanently resident outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Nationals of Russia and Belarus are not eligible to apply.
  • No repeat awards: You have not yet received this scholarship.

How to apply

First apply for admission directly to an eligible Irish university and get an offer. Then submit your scholarship application through the HEA online portal, with proof of your offer and two references. The deadline is 12 March at 5 p.m. Irish time. Results are usually announced about three months later, in early June.
