Halmstad University Scholarship

You get a 25% or 50% reduction of your tuition fee at Halmstad University in Sweden. The discount comes straight off your fee, so you pay less when the invoice arrives and cover the rest yourself. It first runs for one semester, then extends automatically for the whole programme (2 or 4 semesters for a master's, 6 semesters for a bachelor's). To keep it, you must pass at least 75% of your credits each semester (22.5 of 30). The university funds this itself to attract international students who otherwise pay full tuition. The award does not cover living costs, and there is no extra money for family members.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You apply to a bachelor's or master's programme at Halmstad University in Sweden, and it is your first-choice programme.
• Nationality: You come from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, so you have to pay tuition fees.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Grades: Selection is based only on the grade average of your qualifying education. Work experience and your financial situation do not count.
• Enrolment: You must be admitted to the programme to receive the scholarship.
• Staying enrolled: If you interrupt your studies or take a leave of absence, you lose the scholarship.

How to apply

First apply to your chosen programme through University Admissions (universityadmissions.se) as your first priority by 15 January, and pay the application fee. If you are eligible, you then get an email with a link to the online scholarship form. For autumn 2026 the scholarship window is 9-25 February 2026. A committee decides based on your grades, and you hear back by email after the first admission results in March or April.

How realistic are your chances?

Your chances depend heavily on your grades, since that is the only thing the committee weighs. The university also favours applicants from countries that send few applicants, which helps if you come from an under-represented country. Apply on time and make Halmstad your first choice, because only first-priority applicants are eligible.
