About this award / prize
Benefit
You will receive a one-off grant of 15,000 EUR to develop your idea for a French-language TV series. With this funding, you can write the ‘bible’ (the document that describes the entire series, its world and its characters) as well as the script for the pilot episode or – in the case of short-form series – the first three episodes. The grant is provided by the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, which supports young talent in the fields of culture and media every year. One grant is awarded each year; it may also be jointly won and shared by a team of writers.
Eligibility
- Your project: A fictional television or streaming series, regardless of genre or format (ongoing series, completed series, miniseries, sitcom, short series). Animated and documentary series are not permitted.
- Language: You must write the project in French and present it to the jury in French.
- Age: On 31 December 2026, you will be no more than 35 years old.
- Experience: You have already entered into at least one screenplay contract (an option, a writing commission or a transfer of rights) with a producer for a previous feature film project. At least one member of the team must meet this requirement.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided the project is in French.
- Project status: Your project must not already be the subject of a development contract with a broadcaster.
- Team size: Up to 3 people per project, with each person required to meet the age requirement. Each person may only take part in one project.
How to apply
Please submit a complete application in PDF format via the Foundation’s website by Sunday, 14 June 2026, 23:59. Only your first submission will be considered. Shortlisted candidates will present their project in French to the jury, which will meet between September and October 2026. There is no application fee.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is very selective. Only one prize is awarded each year, and applicants must already have a screenplay contract and a French-language TV series project, meaning that far fewer people qualify than for open scholarships. The jury assesses the subject matter, the format and the quality of the screenplay, and may decide not to award the prize at all. If you clearly meet the professional requirements and submit a compelling, well-developed project, you have a genuine chance of winning. However, as there is only one winner per year, the competition remains fierce.
