About this scholarship
Lincoln Bishop Learning Fund
You get a one-off grant you do not pay back to help cover extra costs your other funding does not stretch to, such as rent, bills or study materials during a rough patch. Lincoln Bishop University runs the fund and decides the amount case by case, so what you get depends on your situation and the evidence you provide. The amount is not published. The fund is means-tested: the university checks your income and circumstances before making an award. If your student finance payments are running late, the university can also give you a short-term loan to bridge the gap.
Who can apply
- University: You are currently registered at Lincoln Bishop University.
- Degree or level: Undergraduate or postgraduate, full-time or part-time, all count.
- Residence: You normally live in the UK.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Financial need: You have a genuine money shortfall that your other funding cannot cover.
- Student loan first: You usually need to have applied for and received the first instalment of the maximum student loan available to you before the fund pays out.
- Priority groups: Anyone eligible can apply, but the university gives priority to care leavers, carers, students with children (especially lone parents), mature students, students from low-income families, disabled students, and final-year students on the reduced loan rate who are struggling.
How to apply
You fill in the online form through the Student Advice & Wellbeing area of the student portal or Blackboard and attach the evidence listed on the form. Check the deadline dates in the fund's Guidance Notes and allow up to four weeks for a decision.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a hardship fund open only to Lincoln Bishop students in real financial difficulty, so the pool is limited to people who genuinely need it. The university says it cannot fund every application or cover every cost, so a clear, well-evidenced case matters most. If you fit a priority group and can document your need, your prospects are good.
