About this scholarship

Scholarship from the Ida Sohlberg study fund

You will receive a one-off grant to fund your education. The exact amount is not disclosed. The fund is administered by Skolverket, the Swedish National Agency for Education. Skolverket appoints a committee to assess the applications and decide who will receive funding.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are a boy at school in Sweden, either compulsory school (grundskola) or upper-secondary school (gymnasium).
  • Grades: You get good marks at school.
  • Behaviour: You’re behaving well. An adult who knows you but is not a member of your family – for example, a headteacher, a counsellor, a coach or a mentor – confirms this in writing.
  • Financial need: You and your parents or guardians are on a low income. You can prove this by providing tax documents from the Swedish Tax Agency.
  • Field of study: Any subject is acceptable. The scholarship covers your general school education.
  • Priority: You will be given priority if you have lost both parents or are related to Ida Sohlberg.

How to apply

Please request an application form by email and then return it together with the required documents: your most recent school report, proof of your family’s income, a personal cover letter and a certificate of good conduct. You may return the documents by email or by post. The application period for 2026 runs from 12 January to 23 February. If any document is missing, your application will not be considered.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrow: you must be a boy at school in Sweden with strong grades and real financial need. The eligible group is therefore smaller than for open scholarships. If you clearly meet these conditions and can document the need and good conduct, your prospects are good. Orphans and relatives of Ida Sohlberg are preferred, so a complete, well-evidenced application matters.
