Stockholm School of Economics - The Gun and Einar Larsson Scholarship

Benefit

You will receive up to 100,000 SEK (about 8,800 EUR) to design and carry out your own practical project in a country outside Sweden. From the date the scholarship is awarded, you will have up to 18 months to complete the project, which should take place in the year in which you receive the scholarship. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to one person or a team of two. The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) administers the scholarship. In addition to financial support, you will gain experience in project management abroad and become part of a network of former scholarship holders who will support you on your journey.

The project must be practice-oriented and application-based; in other words, it must not be purely theoretical but must be relevant to your studies at the SSE. The funding does not apply to university studies, language courses, essay writing or work placements.

Eligibility

• University: You’re studying at the Stockholm School of Economics.
• Study phase: The award is primarily aimed at Bachelor’s students who have completed at least 2 academic years by the time the project is carried out. Master’s students who still have at least one year remaining at the SSE may be considered in exceptional cases.
• Where you go: Your project is taking place in a country outside Sweden.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the SSE.
• Grades and project idea: Selection is based on your academic performance and the quality of your project proposal.
• Team option: You can apply either on your own or as a couple. Both partners must meet the eligibility criteria.

How to apply

Please email your final application, including all supporting documents in a single file, to the SSE Scholarship Office by 7 November. You may also submit two earlier drafts (deadlines: 20 May and 7 October) to receive feedback from former scholarship holders. These drafts are optional and will not be taken into account in the final decision. The SSE President will select the winner after shortlisted candidates have been interviewed by former scholarship holders.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is strictly limited: only SSE students can apply, and only one or two are selected each year. The pool of applicants is small, but competition for these few places is fierce. Good grades are important, but it is a clear, workable project proposal that really sets applicants apart from the crowd. If you meet the entry requirements and develop your idea further on the basis of your initial drafts, your chances will improve.
