About this award / prize
What the Kaiser-West Design Award gives you
For the best design project in the field of chemical engineering, you will receive a one-off prize of about 736 EUR. This is a one-off award, not a monthly scholarship. The prize is awarded by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. A design project is a comprehensive coursework assignment in which you plan and design a chemical process or plant. The prize is awarded to the student whose project is judged to be the best.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You’re studying chemical engineering at the University of Birmingham.
- What counts: You’ve produced the best design project in your year group.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at the university.
How realistic are your chances?
You do not need to apply for this award. The lecturers select the student with the best design project, meaning that your work competes only with that of your fellow students and not with entries from an open field of participants. Each year, only one outstanding project is recognised. Only exceptional design work stands a chance.
