About this scholarship
What the Bath Bursary gives you
You will receive up to about 3,160 EUR (2,750 GBP) in your first year. The money will be paid out to you every year, provided you meet the eligibility criteria, and it is not a loan, so you will never have to pay it back. In the first year, you will receive 1,000 GBP in cash, 1,000 GBP as campus credit, which you can spend via the Bath Go app in the university’s cafés and shops, as well as 750 GBP off your rent if you live in university accommodation. From the second year onwards, you will receive 2,000 GBP per year: 1,000 GBP in cash and 1,000 GBP as campus credit. The University of Bath pays out this grant. It depends solely on your household income, not on your grades, and will continue to be paid even if your family’s income increases later on.
Who can apply
- University: You are a full-time student on a face-to-face degree programme at the University of Bath.
- Study start: You started in September 2024 or later.
- Home status: You are a British ‘home student’. This means that you pay the home student tuition fees and receive financial support from Student Finance England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
- Household income: According to the Student Loans Company’s assessment, your household income is 30,000 GBP or less.
- Loan eligibility: You are entitled to a UK student loan, even if you decide not to take one out.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- One award only: This scholarship cannot be combined with the Gold Scholarship Programme. However, it can be combined with the Claverton, Corporate, Arts and Sports scholarships.
How to apply
No separate application is required. You will receive the grant automatically once your UK student finance organisation has assessed your household income and you have not objected to this information being passed on to the university. Apply for the means test as early as possible, as it takes six to eight weeks to complete. It must be received by the university by 12 March in order for the relevant academic year to be funded.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a competition. If you meet the income threshold and the other eligibility criteria, you will receive the grant. The only thing that could throw a spanner in the works is the timing. Make sure you have your household income assessment carried out in good time before the deadline in March, and ensure that you have not objected to your data being passed on to the university.
