About this award / prize
School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures Awards
You will receive 1,170 EUR (1,000 GBP) as a grant towards your tuition fees for a one-year Master’s programme at the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh. Between 2014 and 2015, ten scholarships were awarded to the ten graduates with the highest undergraduate grades. The amount will be applied exclusively towards your tuition fees. If you are already receiving another scholarship to reduce your tuition fees, you may still receive up to 1,000 GBP; however, no cash payment will be made.
Who can apply
- Degree you take: You are starting an MSc programme with lectures or a research-oriented MSc programme at the Faculty of Literature, Languages and Cultures.
- Your first degree: You completed your bachelor’s degree at the University of Edinburgh with a ‘First Class’ honours degree, the highest level of achievement in the British education system.
- Grades: Only the ten applicants with the highest average marks in their undergraduate studies will be selected.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
You do not need to submit an application. Once you have enrolled, the faculty will review the grades of all its Edinburgh graduates and contact the successful applicants.
How realistic are your chances?
The selection criteria for this scholarship are very strict. You must already hold a First-Class Honours degree from the University of Edinburgh, and only the top ten applicants are selected based solely on their grades. If your average mark in your undergraduate degree is amongst the highest in your year group, you have a real chance. If this is not the case, there is nothing else you can do to stand out from the rest, as there is neither an application process nor an interview.
