NTU School of Social Sciences Masters scholarship

You have been awarded up to 50% off your tuition fees for a Master’s degree programme at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the School of Social Sciences. The fee reduction will be applied upon enrolment. For part-time study, it will be spread across the individual academic years. This is a competitive award. Places are allocated to the applicants who best meet the criteria; therefore, the amount of your fee reduction will depend on your application.

Who can apply

• Course: You have been offered a place on a recognised Master’s programme in the social sciences at NTU, for example the MA in Criminology, MSc in Psychology, MA in International Relations, MA in Public Health, MA in Sociology, MSc in Forensic Psychology or MA in Journalism. Distance-learning programmes are not eligible.
• New student: You are starting your degree in the first year. You cannot claim the scholarship for a degree programme that you have already partially completed.
• Fee status: You are considered a home student (UK) for the purposes of tuition fees. International students must apply via NTU’s separate programme for international students.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities may apply, provided they have ‘home fee’ status for the degree programme.
• No other funding: Your fees are not covered, either in full or in part, by an employer, a public authority or a funding body.
• Discount cap: If you are also entitled to an NTU alumni discount, the two discounts combined must not exceed 50% of your fees.

How to apply

First, secure a place on an eligible degree programme and obtain your NTU ID number. Then complete the scholarship application form on the NTU website. For the January 2027 intake, the application deadline is 18 November 2026 at 16:00 GMT; you will be notified of the result within four weeks. You may apply once per academic year and per offer of admission.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis, but is restricted to students from the United Kingdom who are enrolled on a Master’s degree programme from a specified list of social science courses. As a result, the pool of applicants is smaller than for an open, university-wide programme. If you clearly meet the criteria, have no other source of funding for your tuition fees and submit a compelling application, your chances are good. Applying early with a strong case is an advantage.
