Santander Scholarship

You will receive a one-off payment of about 5,900 EUR (GBP 5,000) for the academic year 2025/26. You can use it towards tuition fees, study materials, accommodation or other study-related costs. The funding is provided by Santander Universities UK, which runs the programme through partner universities across the UK. A total of 158 places are available, with each partner university awarding between 2 and 6 places. You will also receive free access to the Santander Open Academy, an online learning platform offering on-demand courses from leading educational institutions.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at one of Santander’s partner universities in the UK. You can find the full list on the application platform.
• Level: You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student (on a degree or research programme) in any year of study.
• Enrolment: You study full time.
• Fee status: Your status is ‘UK Home Fee’, which means you pay the tuition fees applicable to home students.
• Residence: You live in the UK.
• Age: You are at least 18.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Background: Priority will be given to students from under-represented groups or those taking part in their university’s programmes to promote inclusion. Even if this does not apply to you, you are still welcome to apply.
• Bank account: You do not need to be a Santander customer.

How to apply

Registration and applications are made via the Santander Open Academy platform. You will need to complete a form, answer a motivation question in no more than 250 words, and take a short online test. Santander will use the test results to shortlist candidates, and your university will make the final decision. The application deadline is 4 July, although some universities set their own, earlier deadline – so please check with your university.

How realistic are your chances?

Each university offers only 2 to 6 places, meaning you will only be competing with students from your own university, rather than with applicants from across the country. Participation in a programme promoting access to higher education or belonging to an under-represented group is an advantage, as these applicants are given priority. If you fit this profile and write a compelling personal statement, your chances are good.
