What the BU Santander Scholarship offered

This scholarship reduced your tuition fees at Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom by about 5,750 EUR (GBP 5,000). You received it in the form of a fee waiver rather than a cash payment. It covered a one-year full-time Master’s programme (Postgraduate Taught). Bournemouth University awarded the scholarship through the Santander Universities network. Nine places were available for the intake starting in January 2015.

Who could apply

• Degree level: You have started a full-time Master’s degree (postgraduate programme) at Bournemouth University.
• Course: All full-time Master’s degree programmes at the university, with the exception of distance-learning programmes.
• Grades: You achieved top marks, which are roughly equivalent to a British degree with ‘First Class Honours’.
• Where you live: At the time of your application, you were resident in one of the countries listed, including Germany, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, China, Singapore, the USA, the United Kingdom and several countries in Latin America.
• Other scholarships: You may not receive another scholarship from Bournemouth University at the same time.
• Financial need: Your income didn’t matter.

How to apply

You have submitted an application form and a personal statement in which you explained how the Master’s programme fits in with your career plans. You could have done this either at the same time as applying for the programme or afterwards. The application deadline for the January intake was 15 November. Admission notifications were usually sent out around four weeks later.
