About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive a training grant of at least about EUR 5,900 per year (£5,000), which you will never have to repay. This is awarded in addition to your standard student loan. If your degree programme covers a specific subject area, you may receive up to around 1,180 (£1,000) euros on top of this. If you have children, you can apply for up to approximately 2,360 (£2,000) euros per year towards childcare costs. Should you find yourself in unexpected financial difficulties, you can apply for up to approximately 3,540 (£3,000) euros as additional hardship support. The fund is administered by the NHS Business Services Authority for healthcare students in England.
Who can apply
- Course: You are studying an eligible healthcare degree programme at the University of Hertfordshire, such as nursing (adult, mental health, paediatric or learning disabilities), midwifery, physiotherapy, paramedicine, diagnostic or therapeutic radiology, or nutrition.
- Level: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree or one of the eligible Master’s degree programmes.
- Where you study: You’re studying in the UK.
- Residence: You meet the residence requirements of the NHS Learning Support Fund for the United Kingdom.
How to apply
Once you have enrolled on an eligible course, submit your application via your online account with the NHS Learning Support Fund. You must submit an application for each year of your studies.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a grant, not a prize awarded as part of a competition. If you are enrolled on an eligible healthcare degree course and meet the residence requirements, you will receive the grant. There is no selection panel that you need to impress. Your main task is to open a bank account and submit your application. The additional payments for childcare and hardship cases depend on your personal circumstances, not on whether you are selected ahead of other applicants.
