University of León - AMICUS Mobility Programme

Benefit

You will receive a one-off travel allowance of up to 2,000 EUR, with the exact amount depending on your destination country and your university. In addition, you will receive a cash grant of 700 EUR for a semester abroad or 1,400 EUR for a full academic year. There are no tuition fees at the host university, and the courses you take abroad will count towards your degree in exactly the same way as they would under the Erasmus programme. The stay lasts from 3 to 12 months, for at least one full semester. The University of León organises the programme and enables its own students to study at partner universities outside the EU in more than 18 countries, including Japan, Argentina, Canada, Mexico, South Korea and the USA.

Eligibility

• Where you study: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s degree programme at the University of León for 2026/2027.
• Credits so far: By the end of 2024/2025, you will have earned at least 48 ECTS credits. Veterinary medicine students require 96 ECTS credits and must meet additional subject-specific requirements.
• Language: You can demonstrate that you have reached level B2 in the language of instruction in your destination country. There are two exceptions: A2 (or a preparatory course) in Portuguese for Brazil, and an English-taught degree programme in Japan or China, provided you do not have Level B2 in Japanese or Chinese.
• Field of study: Any bachelor’s degree programme is eligible, provided that a partner university offers a suitable programme.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. You simply need to be a Bachelor’s student at the University of León.
• First time: You have never received an AMICUS scholarship before.
• Course load abroad: You plan to take at least 15 ECTS credits per semester at the host university.

How to apply

You must apply online via the MoveON platform using your León student email address by 23:59 on 19 January 2026. You should list up to three preferred destinations in order of preference. There is no interview. Selection is based solely on a points system: your grades account for 65 per cent, your language proficiency for 25 per cent and other achievements for 10 per cent. Once the ranking list has been finalised, you will select an available place during a public online session.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is available exclusively to Bachelor’s students at the University of León, meaning that the pool of applicants is limited from the outset. Nevertheless, with a total budget of 136,000 EUR, only 30 places are on offer. Selection is based almost exclusively on your grade point average, so good grades combined with solid language skills are crucial. If your academic performance is good and you meet the requirements regarding credit points and language skills, you have a realistic chance of being selected.
