APIHMS language scholarship

You will receive between 800 EUR and 1,200 EUR as a one-off grant for a stay abroad. Every year, the APIHMS awards 2 grants totalling 2,000 euros. You can use the money to improve your language skills, experience a new culture, undertake a work placement or set up a professional project abroad. APIHMS (Association pour la Promotion des Intellectuels Handicapés Moteurs ou Sensoriels) is a French association based near Toulouse. It supports students with a physical or sensory disability.

Who can apply

• Level: You are in upper secondary school (lycée) or in a BTS, IUT or university programme in France.
• Disability: You have a physical or sensory disability.
• Your project: You’re planning a stay abroad to improve your language skills, get to know a different culture, undertake an internship or develop a professional project.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

To apply, please complete the online questionnaire on the APIHMS website. You can also download the offline version and submit it by email. A panel will then assess your project. The application deadline is usually at the end of March; the exact date will be announced in early January. You will receive a response by the end of April at the latest.

How realistic are your chances?

Only 2 scholarships are awarded each year, so the number of places is limited. However, the target group is narrowly defined: you must be a French school pupil or student with a physical or sensory disability and be able to present a concrete plan for a stay abroad. This keeps the pool of applicants small, meaning that a well-prepared, clearly described project stands a real chance of success. The selection panel assesses a concrete, credible plan for your stay abroad.
